Arsene Wenger says that Zlatan Ibrahimovic may only have a limited impact in the Premier League

Arsene Wenger says that Manchester United forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic may only have a limited impact in the Premier League because of his age.

The much travelled Swedish striker has just arrived in England and will be looking to become one of the few players in the world to have won league titles in all major European leagues. He has been immensely successful in his club career by winning the league titles in Holland, Spain, France, and Italy. He has arrived at United as a free transfer after allowing his contract with PSG to expire.

In the past, Ibrahimovic has especially struggled against English opposition when coming up against these teams in the Champions League. This would come as a surprise since the 34-year-old is one of the physical players capable of performing in almost every scenario. Of course, this record has changed in recent years with Ibrahimovic helping PSG knockout the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City. It did not take long for the 34-year-old to make an impact in the team as he scored inside four minutes after making his debut in a pre-season friendly game. Yet, Wenger says that Ibrahimovic is unlikely to make a huge impact since age will take its toll on the player as the season progresses. Dimitri Payet has suddenly become the focus for several top clubs

West Ham midfielder Dimitri Payet has suddenly become the focus for several top clubs following his imperious performances in the last 12 months.

The Marseille man looked short of takers when he came to West Ham in the summer. After an impressive debut season in the Premier league, he has continued their good form by scoring in France’s opening game at the Euro 2016. His goal at the last minute of the game against Romania helped the hosts secure a 2-1 win. At 29 years of age,Payet may be something of a late bloomer, but that has not prevented interest from several big clubs in the last few weeks.

The player’s agent, though, has placed a stunning £60 million value on the player. He says that only a few clubs in the world could afford this astronomical sum. However, it remains to be seen if any interest in club will pursue the interest, as they will look towards several younger alternatives available at much lower price. The huge sum of money may have effectively sealed his chances of securing a move away from West Ham to a bigger club should he be in the mood. PSG, Manchester City, and Chelsea are thought to be the clubs who have enquired about Payet. Continue reading “Dimitri Payet has suddenly become the focus for several top clubs”
