Crewe Alexandra defender Perry Ng has agreed fresh terms with the club, according to reports. Ng signed to remain for an extra year with the League Two outfit.
The youngster’s deal was set to lapse but he has extended for another 12 months with an option to stay for another year if he reaches a certain number of games.
Ng is a grad of the club’s academy. He featured in 20 games for the senior team this term. He played in central midfield as the season moved to a halt.
The manager David Artell said he was to offer Danny Hollands a deal as well but the 31-year old player favoured a switch to non-league Eastleigh. The Hampshire-based club managed to convince the player to drop a level. Hollands, a former Portsmouth star, reportedly consented to the move despite the club finishing 15th in the National League.
Hollands joined from Portsmouth on a free deal last year. He played in 29 games before he picked up a serious hamstring injury. His deal with Eastleigh is believed to be a two-year deal with an option of extending.
“I think he is moving close to his Portsmouth home, he gave me a ring last night. So we are looking for another midfielder I think. The reason we didn’t offer Billy Bingham anything is because he wanted to move closer to London, so I totally understand.
“Danny’s in a strong position because he’s out of contract and over 24, and we had to wait and see if he was fit. I wasn’t prepared to offer a deal to someone who had had such a serious injury,” the boss explained.
He added that the management would still take a look at the midfielders but that Billy would get a replacement in the team.
